Happy February Just thought I would give you an update on the different things we are doing in our classes in February and March. First, MATH We are working on preparing the students for the PSSA tests that are scheduled in March. We will be skipping some of the lessons in chapters 7-11 so that we can get the concepts that will be on that test accomplished. In Ch.7 we will be covering sections 6 and 8, Ch. 8-sections 1,2,4, and 5, Ch. 9-sections 3 and 5, Ch.10-sections 1 and 2, and in Ch. 11-sections 1 and 2. Your child should have memorized the Fractions to Decimals chart that I gave them back in November. Some students NEED to review them so that it will make Fractions to Decimals to Percents that much easier. Ch 8 is on Geometry, Ch. 9 is Geometry and Measurement(we will be learning about the metric system),Ch. 10 is Probability and Ch. 11 is about integers. Now, SCIENCE Our unit this quarter is called Weather and Water. By the title you can tell what we will be studying many different aspects of the weather. It is another fun and exciting unit that I am sure the students will enjoy. Social Studies We will be learning about our neighbors a little farther down toward the Equator. That would be Central America, also known as Latin America. We will learn about the history, culture, economy, and other interesting things about a few of the countries in that area. Hope everyone has a nice end to our winter season, and that you don't get too many sore backs from all the shoveling we have had to do. Isn't that why you had children in the first place.
